Clear Clamshell Tart Molds
|
6 Cavity Clamshell Tart Mold/Container
Make 6 1"x1"x1" snap apart tarts in one sellable hinged lid container. Holds about 3 oz wax (by weight) to the brim. Includes a hang tag hole for easy display. (Wax not included, just the molds)
Directions: Melt Soy Wax (I used a blend of 25% Container Wax/75% Votive Wax) to 160 degrees, add fragrance oil at 1 oz to 1.5 oz per pound of wax, add dye if desired. See How to Make Votive Candles for more information. Pour your scented and dyed mixture directly into the main cavity at 130-140 degrees. We've got feedback that 75% Millennium Wax/25% Votive Wax poured at 130-150 degrees also works very well. When cool and hard close the hinged lid and apply your label for a nicely packaged, ready to sell product. Your customer snaps a tart piece off like a hard chocolate bar to use in their warmer.
NOTES- These molds were designed primarily to hold dry goods and are not guaranteed to hold hot liquids. Therefore some leaking molds are to be expected. We've done the math and this is a small price to pay for such an affordable product! Pouring too hot can distort the shape and cause more leakers. You can minimized the situation by pouring cooler, pouring on a cardboard piece and re-melting the leakers to salvage the product. The cardboard helps the wax stop leaking and lowers the loss. Pouring too cool may prevent the slight shrinkage you want and make it hard to remove from the mold later. The key is to find the right tempurature that works best with your wax/fragrance mixture.

NEW STYLE- Has 1/4" bottom "foot" so you don't have to guess on the length any more, and a notch in the cutting edge so the wick can't slide away.
In spite of a few nicks in the finish, these are heavy quality stainless steel wick trimmers designed to reach down into those deep containers, with a special lip around the sharp cutters to hold the clipping. Comes in a nice white box, as seen by clicking on the photo. About 6 1/2" long. Made in China.

Use Votive wax so it will shrink away from your tart mold as it cools. Use with a Tea Light Wick to make floater candles to float on water in a centerpiece.
